Unlike the original FFT, there is no "casting" time for spells and abilities, not even for Jump (which is highly unorthodox by Final Fantasy standards).

  • Speed - Determines the order and frequency of AT.
  • Magic Defense - How well that unit can resist a magical attack.
  • Magical Power - The strength of any magic cast by that unit.
  • Defense - How well that unit can defend a physical attack.
  • Weapon Attack - How strong that unit's physical attack will be.
  • Evade - The % of attacks that unit can possibly dodge.
  • Jump - Maximum height that unit can scale.
  • Move - Amount of panels that unit can move each turn.
  • Each unit has 8 stats which determine different attributes:

    Each time a unit takes a turn, it will get a chance to move and execute an action. Game Overview Battles are turn-based and take place on what essentially is a grid.   • Trying to access the non-existent item 316 ( $13C) doesn't return an empty slot, unlike items 254 ( $FE) and 255 ( $FF).
  • Item 314 and Item 315 ( $13A to $13B) are grouped into accessories.
  • Item 307 and Item 308 ( $132, $133) are grouped into armor.
  • Item 296 through Item 299 ( $128 to $12B) are grouped into helmets.
  • Interestingly, these items can be equipped by classes that don't normally use shields. Just like the "weapons," equipping these "shields" for battle will crash the game.
  • Item 290 and Item 291 ( $122, $123) are grouped into shields.
  • Equipping them before or during a battle will crash the game, presumably due to not having any associated graphics, placeholder or otherwise. All of them are One-Handed weapons which cannot be Double-Handed or Dual Wielded.
  • Item 278 through Item 287 (hex values $116 to $11F) are grouped into weapons.
  • Curiously, their name was left untranslated and displays in Japanese (completely with wider numbers) regardless of region. The other 20 are placeholders which have no stats, have no descriptions, sell for 5 Gil, and serve no purpose other than to fill space.

    However, only 39 of them were ever completed. There are 59 new items (starting at $100) in the item chart for this version of the game. See if these items are any different in the Japanese version.
